Hiking Tip
The „Au-Albon“ trail
„Au-Albon“ – that’s what the first inhabitants of the Brandner valley, the Walser, called good water.
From the origins of the water – the natural springs high up in the mountains – this trail leads you along the torrents right into the centre of the village Brand.
Route: Bus station Sonnenlagant – Quellenweg – Wasserfall – Schattenlagantweg – Quellfassung – Kesselfall – Brand
walking time: about 3 hours
refreshments: no inns on this trail, take a snack with you
IMPORTANT: The starting point of the “Au-Albon-tour”, Sonnenlagant, can be reached easily by public transport. Alternatively, you can go by private car.
We recommend you to make this tour with a qualified guide of the BERGAKTIV team. As a guest of the hotel Scesaplana, this service is free of charge for you. We shall be pleased to give you a detailed route description and further information on the programme of the BERGAKTIV guides.
Tour to the Kesselfall
walking time: 1.5 hours
The Kesselfall, a natural monument in Brand, can be reached in an easy excursion. It is located in an impressive rocky ravine in the Sonnenlagant in Brand. The river Alvier plunges, roaring and foaming, through a 40 m deep gorge. There are good solid footbridges along the Kesselfall.
In the Inntertal, at the Haus Seekopf, the wide goods path leads you, softly ascending, to the turnoff Kesselfall. Heading home, you take the route via the Weißtannen-Maisäß and the Schattenlargant road to Brand.
Tour to the Glinga well and to the “Untere Brüggele Alpe”
The trail begins at the valley station of the Palüd mountain railway and follows the Palüd brook, mostly in the shadow of the trees. Halfway you will find the Glinga well beneath the Mottakopf. It gets its water from several springs, that are fed underground by the Brandner glacier. These are only active in the period between mid May and mid October. The Glinga path meets the wide Zalimweg in the “Riedstutz” and leads right into the picturesque Zalim valley. After a short walking time, fascinated by the idyllic beauty of the Zalim valley, the “Untere Brüggele Alpe” is reached, where you can fortify yourself for the way back by taking a hearty mountain snack. You take the same trail back and reach the valley station of the Palüd mountain railway.
